WELCOME TO THE NIAGARA FRONTIER SECTION OF THE A&WMA

DINNER MEETINGS

Our next dinner meeting will be held on February 23, 2023 at Santora's Pizza Pub & Grill, 1402 Millersport Highway, Williamsville, NY 14221.  The Social Hour will start at 5:30 p.m. with the dinner and speaker starting at 6:30 p.m.  A presentation entitled "Application of Wastewater Based Epidemiology to Track COVID-19 and Emerging Disease Outbreaks" will be made by SUNY @ Buffalo Professors Ian Bradley, Ph.D and Yinyin Ye, Ph.D.  Click here to register.

EDUCATION

A&WMA-NFS is now accepting applications for the James G. Strickland Memorial NYSDEC Environmental Education Summer Camp Scholarship.  Click here to view the application.  Applications are due by February 10, 2023 (extended from January 10, 2023).

A&WMA-NFS is now accepting applications for Earth Day Grants.  Click here to view the application.  Applications are due by March 24, 2023. 

A&WMA-NFS is now accepting applications for Scholarships for High School Seniors and Scholarships for College students who are not graduating this year.  Click here to view High School the application and here to view the College application.  Applications are due by April 7, 2023.

SEMINAR

A&WMA-NFS will be holding an in-person seminar on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Templeton Landing.  Templeton Landing is located at 2 Templeton Terrace, Buffalo, NY 14202.  Although preregistration is now closed, on-site registration starts at 7:30 am on Thursday morning and the program begins at 8:15 am. 

MINASIAN AWARD

The Niagara Frontier Section was awarded the prestigious 2021 A&WMA Minasian Award. The A&WMA Minasian Award is given in recognition for superior performance in providing service to Members throughout the year.  The award was presented to our Section at the Sections & Chapters Council meeting on June 27, 2022 in San Francisco, California.  This is the second time that the Niagara Frontier Section has been presented with this award in the last 6 years.

A&WMA-NFS INTERNATIONAL

The Air & Waste Management Association's 116th Annual Conference and Exhibition will be held in Orlando, Florida on June 5 - 8, 2023.  The theme of this years conference is "Smart Growth: Balancing Development, Restoration, and Resiliency"  Click here for more information.

ABOUT THE NIAGARA FRONTIER SECTION OF A&WMA

The Niagara Frontier Section of the Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA NFS) is a non-profit organization for people involved in the environmental profession consisting of individual and corporate members from the Western New York area. Members come from local universities, governments, NYS Department of Conservation (NYSDEC), local industries, environmental engineering/consulting, legal firms and analytical testing. 

The Niagara Frontier is the Section of the Air & Waste Management Association located in Western New York.  The Niagara Frontier Section includes the chapter known as the Genesee Fingers Lake Chapter of AWMA.

Locally the AWMA NFS is involved in several areas which directly aid and promote environmental activities, including: monthly dinner meetings with guest topic speakers, an annual day-long environmental education seminar, scholarships for college students, Dave Sauer High School scholarship, Earth Day grants, and Envirun.
