The William A. Faust Award
The William A. Faust Award was established in 1993 by the Air & Waste Management Association, Niagara Frontier Section, to recognize a member for distinguished service and outstanding contributions to our Section.
Our 2025 honoree is Lori Riker. Lori joined our Section over 25 years ago and has been an active contributor for a significant portion of that time on behalf of the Niagara Frontier Section. Our honoree has served the Board on two separate occasions for a combined five years (and counting) as a director and committee chair. This includes two years as the Membership Chair and three years as the Education Chair. In addition, for the past three years she has managed the review and approval of our professional development hours (PDH) for dinner meetings and our annual seminar. This ongoing service is firmly in the tradition of our highly dedicated past Faust Award winners who are always ready and willing to do the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.
Our honoree was born just south of the Artic Circle in beautiful Parry Sound, Ontario. She migrated to Kitchener and in 1992 received a BS in Applied Science Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo. She subsequently completed her master’s in environmental engineering from the University of Guelph in 1994. Her first job took her to Princeton, NJ with Environ. In 1996 she came to sunny Buffalo to work at Malcolm Pirnie where she remained until 2002, when she took a position at Benchmark Environmental Engineering and Science (now Roux) where she is currently a Principal Engineer.
Lori is the proud mom of Thomas and Aidan Riker. She enjoys chasing them around the world and spending time with them. She also enjoys working out, going on walks/hikes, her cat Fuzz-Fuzz and an occasional adult beverage, among many other interests.
Lori was recognized at our May 22, 2025 dinner meeting.
