Information on Candidates

Eric Warren is running for Chair.  Eric has been a member of A&WMA-NFS for about 6 years.  He is a Division Manager at Nature's Way Environmental which is a full service environmental contractor specializing in subsurface soil investigations and contaminated soil remediation projects.  He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Earth Science with a concentration in Geology from SUNY @ Buffalo.  He has served on the A&WMA-NFS Board of Directors for the past five years.  He served as the Chair of the Education Committee and most recently as Vice-Chair.

Timothy Bathory is running for Vice-Chair.  Tim has been a member of the Section for about 13 years and has served as the membership chair for the last 3 years. He has 15 years of professional experience in the field of environmental compliance and permitting, from both the facility and consultant point of view.  He is currently the Environmental Coordinator for Occidental Chemical Corp.  Prior to this, he was an Environmental Coordinator for NRG's Dunkirk and Huntley Power Stations and an Environmental Scientist for Conestoga-Rovers & Associates (now GHD Services, Inc.).  As a result of working on a vast array of projects, in both consulting and private industry, his diverse skill set includes Regulatory Compliance Steward, Project Manager, Environmental Auditor, Emissions Test Director, Permit Writer, Emissions Modeler, Field Scientist, as well as Marketing and Business Development.  He has applied his skills across several industry sectors and markets including power generation, heavy manufacturing, surface coating, chemical manufacturing and many others. He has managed a variety of challenges associated with storm water, waste water, facility-wide and point source air emissions, solid waste, hazardous waste as well as site safety and ergonomics across those sectors. 

Dominic Buccilli is running for Treasurer.  Dominic has been a member of the section for over 25 years and has served as the Treasurer of the section for many years.  He is also a past Chair (1993-1994) of the section.  He retired from the NYSDEC in 2003 after working for over 30 years in the Air and Solid Waste Divisions.

Michael Emery is running for Secretary.  Mike has been a member of the Niagara Frontier Section for about 19 years and has been on the Board of Directors since 2002, save a one-year break. He has served as Membership Chair (4 years), on the EnviRun Committee (10 years), and as the Vice Chair, Section Chair, Past Chair for one year each. This will be his 3rd year as Section Secretary. He has worked 23 years for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, primarily as an Environmental Engineer in the Division of Air Resources.

Dr. John Atkinson is running for Director (two-year term).  John is an assistant professor of Environmental Engineering at UB.  His research interests focus on air pollution control and the development of sustainable materials that will improve indoor and outdoor air quality.  He is currently developing tailored pourous materials from low-cost precursors that can be used for multi-pollutant control.  John has been an A&WMA member for over 10 years, attending the annual international conference and exhibition 8 out of 10 times.  He has served on the A&WMA-NFS Board of Directors for 2 years and is the current Education Chair.

 Colin C. Casey, Esq. is running for Director (one-year term; to fill the spot to be vacated by Timothy Bathory).  Colin is the Business Development Manager/General Counsel for Great Lakes Environmental & Safety Consultants, Inc.  As Business Development Manager at Great Lakes, Colin brings a wealth of state and federal regulatory knowledge to the Buffalo-based consultancy.  With a background in commercial real estate development, his experience focuses on risk management and the due diligence process.  He holds a J.D. and M.B.A. from SUNY @ Buffalo and is licensed to practice law in New York State.  He currently resides in Hamburg with his wife and two young children.

James Strickland is running for Director (two-year term).  James has been employed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for over 30 years in various positions.  He is currently the Region 9 Regional Engineer.  In this position he manages the Air, Hazardous Waste, Remediation, Solid Waste, Remediation and Water programs for the DEC in WNY.  James has a B.S, in Engineering from SUNY @ Buffalo and is a licensed Professional Engineer in NYS.  He has been an A&WMA member since 2005 and has served on the Board of Directors for six years.  He is currently the A&WMA-NFS representative to the Technical Societies Council.

Kevin Sullivan is running for Director (two-year term).  Kevin serves as a Program Manager for TRC's New York Remediation Practice.  He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from SUNY @ Buffalo, and is a licensed Professional Engineer in NY, PA, MD, MI, NC and TN.  He has 27 years of experience in environmental engineering including design, remediation, construction management, and project management.  His experience has focused on hazardous and radioactive/mixed waste remediation projects conducted under RCRA, CERCLA/Superfund, FUSRAP, DOE, NRC, Ontario MOE, and various US regulatory programs.  Kevin has recently been managing environmental compliance projects (stormwater compliance, petroleum bulk storage, Facility Response Planning, SPCC, etc.) for several railroad clients with facilities located throughout the Northeast and Atlantic Coast States.  Kevin has served on the A&WMA-NFS Board of Directors for 2 years and has been responsible for preparing the Section newsletter.
