Information on Candidates

Timothy Bathory is running for Chair.  Tim has been a member of the Section for about 14 years and served as the membership chair for 3 years before becoming the Vice-Chair. He has 16 years of professional experience in the field of environmental compliance and permitting, from both the facility and consultant point of view.  He is currently the Environmental Coordinator for Occidental Chemical Corp.  Prior to this, he was an Environmental Coordinator for NRG's Dunkirk and Huntley Power Stations and an Environmental Scientist for Conestoga-Rovers & Associates (now GHD Services, Inc.).  As a result of working on a vast array of projects, in both consulting and private industry, his diverse skill set includes Regulatory Compliance Steward, Project Manager, Environmental Auditor, Emissions Test Director, Permit Writer, Emissions Modeler, Field Scientist, as well as Marketing and Business Development.  He has applied his skills across several industry sectors and markets including power generation, heavy manufacturing, surface coating, chemical manufacturing and many others. He has managed a variety of challenges associated with storm water, waste water, facility-wide and point source air emissions, solid waste, hazardous waste as well as site safety and ergonomics across those sectors. 

Colin C. Casey, Esq.is running for Vice-Chair.  Colin joined the Board in August 2017 and served as Co-Chair of Membership and Young Professionals.  Colin is the Business Development Manager/General Counsel for Great Lakes Environmental & Safety Consultants, Inc.  As Business Development Manager at Great Lakes, Colin brings a wealth of state and federal regulatory knowledge to the Buffalo-based consultancy.  With a background in commercial real estate development, his experience focuses on risk management and the due diligence process.  He holds a J.D. and M.B.A. from SUNY @ Buffalo and is licensed to practice law in New York State.  He currently resides in Hamburg with his wife and two young children.

Dominic Buccilli is running for Treasurer.  Dominic has been a member of the section for over 25 years and has served as the Treasurer of the section for many years.  He is also a past Chair (1993-1994) of the section.  He retired from the NYSDEC in 2003 after working for over 30 years in the Air and Solid Waste Divisions.

Michael Emery is running for Secretary.  Mike has been a member of the Niagara Frontier Section for about 20 years and has been on the Board of Directors since 2002, save a one-year break. He has served as Membership Chair (4 years), on the EnviRun Committee (11 years), and as the Vice Chair, Section Chair, Past Chair for one year each. This will be his 4th year as Section Secretary. He has worked 24 years for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, primarily as an Environmental Engineer in the Division of Air Resources.  He currently holds the position of Regional Air Pollution Control Engineer with the NYSDEC.

Peter Grasso is running for Director (two-year term).  Peter has been employed by the NYSDEC in various positions for over 24 years.  He is currently the Region 9 Materials Management Engineer.  In this position, he manages the Solid Waste and Pesticides programs for the DEC in WNY.  Peter has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from SUNY @ Buffalo and is a licensed Professional Engineer in NYS.  He has been an A&WMA-NFS member for about 4 years.

Mark Hans is running for Director (two-year) term.  Mark has been a member of A&WMA-NFS for about 18 years.  He has a BSCE and MBA from SUNY @ Buffalo and worked for the NYSDEC for over 30 years in the Solid and Hazardous Waste Division.  He also served as the Town Engineer for the Town of Clarence for 3-1/2 years.  He retired from the NYSDEC in 2013 and has served on the A&WMA - NFS Board of Directors for the past four years, most recently as Past-Chair.

MaryKate Mooney is running for Director (one-year term; to fill the spot resulting from the death of James Strickland).  MaryKate received a BA in Mathematics from SUNY at Binghamton in 2012.  Additional, she received a BS in Environmental Engineering from SUNY @ Buffalo in 2017.  While at UB, MaryKate was active in the A&WMA-NFS Student Chapter serving as the UB student chapter president in 2105-1026 and the UB student chapter representative on the A&WMA-NFS Board in 2016-2017.  During the 2017-2018 program year, MaryKate served as the Young Professionals co-coordinator.  She is currently employed as an environmental engineer at Ecology & Environment in Lancaster, New York.

Kathleen Moguel is running for Director. Kathy has been a member of the section for about 5 years.  After earning a B.S. in Chemistry at the University of Rochester and a Ph. D. in Organic Chemistry at Northwestern University, she joined DuPont in Parlin, NJ in electronics development.  Four plants and many years later, she came to Buffalo as a Sr. Manufacturing Technical Engineer with the Dupont Corian® business.  In 2009, Kathy embarked on an adventure as the plant's Sr. Environmental Engineer, responsible for all media.  She assisted the plant in becoming a Zero Landfill site in 2011, also leading the implementation of ISO 14001 and gaining certification that year.  At the end of 2015, Kathy retired from Dupont and joined Durez Corporation in the Niagara Falls Plant as an Environmental Engineer.  She has been a Director on the Board for the last two years, serving as the Reservations Secretary.
